On remarque aisément que dans le million d'années précédent il y eu des inter-glaciaires suffisamment long et que pourtant il n'y a eu guère de progrès; l'explication climatique ne me paraît guère satisfaisante ou suffisante.

C'est donc au Natoufien que le "chasseur-cueilleur" se transforme en cultivateur, sélectionneur de graines, éleveur d'animaux qu'il domestique; il creuse des canaux d'irrigations et construit les premières agglomérations.

Là, nait une tradition orale de cette transformation consignée par la première écriture à Sumer.
